LISHE
LISHE, a program of the Iowa Black Doula Collective (IBDC), is a free breastfeeding support group designed for BIPOC families. Led by Black lactation professionals and IBCLC-certified experts, LISHE empowers families through accessible education, personal connections, and peer-to-peer support. We are committed to creating a culturally informed, inclusive space that supports BIPOC families in their breastfeeding journeys, fostering connection, and improving health outcomes.
We are meeting virtually every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7pm CST.
M.O.M Support Group
The Iowa Black Doula Collective is creating a community to support Black parents. COVID has made transitioning into parenthood more of an isolated experience than it was before. IBDC wants to help restore some of the joy of parenting by helping you recreate your community, by introducing you to local experts who can help you with parenting choices and, in general, help you step into being an empowered parent. We will do this all in a safe and supportive space led by trained facilitator Nishe Moore.
This group meets virtually on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 7pm CST.
Registration is required.
Babywearing Group
The Iowa Black Doula Collective, known for its commitment to supporting Black families through pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care, is excited to announce the formation of a new local baby-wearing group (Des Moines only). This initiative aims to provide a supportive and educational community for parents and caregivers interested in the practice of babywearing.
